Y Siart: 23/2

Again, very sorry about lack of updates, just been so busy lately with uni work and reading etc, etc! To summarise, I got a new case for my glasses, it's bright red and reads 'Glasses (not drinking ones)' and the cloth that came with it is bright yellow and reads 'Long time no see' both of which I think are very funny, though that may just be me... I also managed to find time to get a haircut today and I will get a picture up soon, I'm having it dyed tomorrow so any time after then - so look out for my new look (glasses and all) on here and/or on my Facebook :)

On with the chart! I have to say that the songs I listen to most haven't really changed all that much this week but don't worry as there are songs that I still love that I think you should hear!!

3. Clinigol - Y Gwir

Video | iTunes top 25: n/a

A Welsh song to start, I'm not a massive fan of the Welsh language scene as it's all very rock/pop/folk and there's little variation but Clinigol has earned a place on my blog because their music is just amazing!! Their music is a lot less rock/pop/folk and a lot more electronic which, of course, I love! I heavily recommend buying their stuff on iTunes, it's just brilliant, all of it.

2. Cristal Snow - Wicked

Video | iTunes top 25: 19

I can't remember quite how I came across this very cool-ily, creepy Finn but I am so glad I did! His music has a creepy vibe to it even though it's all Europop/hint of rock and his music videos show this perfectly. This was the first song I heard/video I saw of his and I immediately found his album on iTunes and bought it. The best thing about this song is the childish kind of chant which, again, is creepily brilliant!

1. Shinedown - Her Name Is Alice

Video | iTunes top 25: 21

Why is a song that is not very recent or very obscure my number one? Good question, the answer is that I'm not really sure. It only recently made it into my top 25 but besides that I do really, really, really like it. I love anything and everything Alice in Wonderland and, as the title might suggest, this song is from the album Almost Alice - the soundtrack to Tim Burton's Alice in Wonderland. It is a rock song, no doubts about that, and it opens and ends with a couple of my all time favourite quotes "If I had a world of my own everything would be nonsense, nothing would be what it is because everything would be what it isn't" and "And contrary wise what it is it wouldn't be, and what it wouldn't be it would, you see?"

So what do we think of this weeks offerings? Good? Bad? Whatever, it's my blog, my choice!! But if you do have any suggestions or wanna know more about the songs/artists here just let me know :)
Much love,

Liam x

Y Siart: 16/2

It's that time again, my chance to show you the crazy music that warps my mind into the intrinsic mess it is today! But seriously, I hope you like my top three this week :) There's a bit of a Eurovision theme this week as a few countries chose their entries last Saturday, please try and bear with.

3. September - Mikrofonkåt

Video (Eng/Swe) | iTunes top 25: n/a

Released a couple of months ago, Mikrofonkåt (or Microphone) is a really fun pop/dance/Eurodance/schlager kind of tune. It's really fun to listen to and gets your feet tapping and your head bobbing. Such fun! It may be in Swedish but don't despair! There is an English version titled Me & My Microphone. I just happen to prefer it in Swedish.

2. Stella Mwangi - Haba Haba

Video | iTunes top 25: n/a

This is Norway's Eurovision 2011 entry and it is just amazing! It is mainly in English but there is a bit of Swahili in there too and the song is like a Nordic pop song with some African vibes thrown in making for a very mellow-y, quaint kind of tune. I hope this does well at Eurovision, I think it's more than likely to get into the final. Oh, Haba Haba is a Swahili idiom meaning Little [by] little.

1. Jedward - Lipstick

Video | iTunes top 25: n/a

This is a major guilty pleasure. You know, the song ou should despise because everyone thinks the song and/or artist is just appauling but I am hooked on this song!! Jedward are panned heavily by critics and the media in the UK but they do have a strong fan base here and most especially in their home country Ireland - the country they will represent at Eurovision. It's probably the most upbeat song so far revealed to be taking part in Eurovision which is a winner in my book. Unfortunately, due to the fact that these young twins can't sing and are a little crazy, their chances of getting into the final aren't so certain.

Hope you enjoy the tunes, and just so you're aware, for a while yet there will probably be at least one new Eurovision song featured - just wait until Eurovision actually comes!!
Much love,
Liam x

Y Siart: 9/2

As you may have discovered already, I like to share music that I love in the hope that you will love them too, so, I have come to the conclusion that every week (on a Wednesday) I will make a chart of my absolute favorite songs of the moment. You can use this chart to see what I'm listening to a lot at the moment, take this as an opportunity to listen to something different, or just laugh at my taste in music, I don't mind, honest!

3. Lena - Satellite

Video | iTunes top 25: 1

Yes this song may have been released over a year ago but that doesn't mean I can't listen to it!! I loved it when Germany first announced it would be their Eurovision entry, which they went on to win, and I love it just as much now, often quoting the lyrics and annoying anyone in close proximity to me. Satellite was featured on my blog about a year ago here.

2. Barbarellas - Body Rock

Video | iTunes top 25: 6

I posted about this song very recently so it's still fresh to me! Irish, dance-y, fun is what it is with a bit of a funky guitar riff throughout making it a very fast climber in my iTunes top 25. Do buy it. Go on. Please.

1. Dangerous Muse - Fame Kills

Video | iTunes top 25: n/a

Released only yesterday, Fame Kills has very quickly become my favourite song, it's on replay constantly. Won't write much about this as I already posted about it today. Massively looking forward to their album, been waiting for about 4 years!!

So as not to get confused with other chart related posts, these charts will be labelled 'Siart' and I'll put a series link up under 'Y Siart' - for my American friends I should point out that the date here is written DAY/MONTH/YEAR just so that it doesn't confuddle you :)

Hope you enjoy the tunes!
Much love,
Liam x
