Opiwm Y Pabïau

I have finally come up with a title to the novelette I have to write for Welsh, Opiwm Y Pabïau. The English translation is 'Opium of the Poppies' and it basically came from a number of things. It's kind of a play on popular idioms such as 'cream of the crop' or 'a king amongst men' as those sayings single out one thing/person that is much more notable then anything/one else which, in the case of this story, applies - it's common knowledge that opium is produced from poppies so the title effectively singles out one poppy for me, the one that is or can be my drug which ties in nicely with the cliche of being in love being compared to being on a drug. The whole notion of opium came to me from a group I love, Serebro, whose debut album was titled OpiumRoz (pink opium). Their music is fantastic and definately worth a listen in case you're interested.


The next step for me will be to make a cover for the novelette which is almost done anyway, I want a nice simple cover in a like dual-tone colour scheme kinda thing which is perfect because I have next to no computer/art skills!  Some may think less of me for this (not that I care) but my inspiration for my idea comes from the book covers from the Twilight Saga and a book I recently started reading called Beastly all of which are teenage romance novels with a twist which again ties in to my story.  After the cover I'll move onto planning and then start writing though I will most likely spend my summer writing an English version which I can then adapt later into Welsh. I won't directly translate because that will horribly ruin the purpose of doing this and hurt the story, the English version will serve more as a guidline for me to write the Welsh version.


So I hope you like the title and the little story behind it, mainly because I've grown rather attatched to it and for a little ego boost maybe... And I shall upload my novelette cover soon, possibly tomorrow (I shall also have to reveal my real name on this blog as I won't be using my pseudonym on the novelette - gulp!).
